IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please make time for mehndi and don't plan anything right after, so that you don't have to rush.

  • If possible, make a delicate peeling where you want to have a henna design.

  • I use natural brown henna, which lasts on the skin from 3 days to 2-3 weeks (depending on how you take care of it :). Before the start, we will do an allergy test.

  • Painting can take 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending on the size and complexity of the selected design.

  • Henna dries approximately 15-45 minutes, depending on the environment and the thickness of the paste applied to the skin.

  • Ideal is to leave the paste for 2 to 4 hours on the skin (preferably overnight). The longer you leave the paste on your skin, the better stain you get. After a while, the henna begins to dry and may begin to peel off.

  • Henna stain oxidizes with the passage of time. At first it will be light orange, then it will become dark orange and after 36 to 48 hours it will be dark brown to dark burgundy depending upon the skin type and the part of the body.

  • If you leave henna past overnight, please wrap it in some bandage, that 'breathes'.

  • In the morning, gently remove henna paste using a dry cloth or let the henna flakes off on its own.

  • After this you can apply almond, olive or coconut oil on the henna design area. Please stay away from water for the next 24 hours.

  • Apply olive or coconut oil on henna design area before taking a bath or before going for swimming. Water, soap, shampoo and chlorine fade the henna stain quickly.

  • I'll be glad if you can take a picture of your mehndi and share it on social networks and/or rate me via e-mail: henna@sofiatamara.com
